Closure of St Peter’s for Regeneration Works – Part 2

Saturday, 1st October, 2022 - Friday, 31st March, 2023

In September 2020, the Churches Conservation Trust secured £1.67M in funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund paving the way for some big changes at St Peter’s, including:

  • The installation of toilets
  • The installation of a mezzanine gallery
  • Improvements to the structural integrity of the building
  • Major works on the roof and clerestory
  • And much more…click here for more details

From 1 October 2022 (approximately) the Churches Conservation Trust (CCT for short) will be taking over the building from the main contractors who will (fingers crossed) have finished the building works.  There will then be a period of up to six months to ensure everything is working in the building and properly finished, to get all the systems in place to manage St Peter’s going forward, to train up the staff and volunteers who will be working in St Peter’s and to get the cafe operating to the standard set by the CCT.

So while the CCT hopes to re-open the building in early 2023 this obviously depends on so many factors at this stage that the exact date is yet to be set.

In the meantime more detail on the project can be found on the Regeneration Project page.
