Thank you to everyone that submitted a tree to the 15th Rotary Club Christmas Tree Festival. It was a huge success and we welcomed hundreds of visitors across the threshold. Feedback has been very positive with some saying it was the best yet. In total 95 trees were on display from local charities, businesses, political groups, arts organisations, schools, churches, Brownies and Girl Guides, and there were some beautiful personal memory trees too.
The Christmas Tree Festival brings that tingly, sparkly, exciting atmosphere to the town in the run-up to Christmas. Beneficiaries include local charities Compassion and the Kernos Centre and two overseas projects in Tanzania and Mali – Friends of St Peter’s also receive a much needed large donation for the hire of the church. The trees don’t go to waste after the event either; most find their way to another festival, and the rest are taken by the groups and individuals that display them! One way or another, they go on to provide more Christmas cheer in other places!
Huge thanks go to the Rotary club members and FOSP volunteers who help to put on and man the festival. It’s a lot of work for them! If you would like to participate with a tree in next year’s festival or volunteer some time to help, please make contact with Sudbury Rotary Club.
